Derek Ginsberg, B.A., M.I.A.T. (Managing Director)
Derek has been involved in civil engineering contracting for 30 years. He re-joined Wyn Construction in 2001 and took over as M.D. in 2003 after the retirement of the original founder, Ollie Cowie. He began his working life as a site engineer but became more involved with the quantity surveying and estimating departments. As his commercial experience grew he took a more strategic role in company development eventually leading to his current role. Derek's commitment to the industry is demonstrated by his involvement as a director of CECA(North East) and as vice chairman of the Civil Engineering Training Group (North East).
Roy Bainbridge (Contracts Director)
Roy, or Bambi as he is known throughout the industry has been employed in the industry all his working life, starting out as part of a roads and sewers gang for Wimpey. As the industry moved to a 'sub-contracting' philosophy he became self employed and gained a vast range of experience in the civils market. This experience and success led to Roy being one of the original partners in the company, and his current role within Wyn Construction Ltd.
David Cowie (Contracts Director)
David left school and commenced work with his father Ollie Cowie as part of a roads and sewers gang working throughout the North East for Wimpey. He increased his experience of various aspects of the industry by working for other contractors and taking on more responsibility. As the industry moved away from directly employed labour David became self employed and ultimately one of original partners and founders of the company.
Mark Horner, B.Sc. (Hons.) (Commercial Director)
Mark joined the company in 1995 after completing his Quantity Surveying degree at Liverpool John Moores University. Initially employed as Quantity Surveyor, Mark quickly demonstrated the ability and desire to develop his role within the business. This soon led to Mark becoming involved in estimating and purchasing and his promotion to Commercial Manager. The company were pleased to reward Mark's further progress by offering him a directorship in 2004.
